Meet the Honey Bees

A NEW course designed as an introduction to beekeeping, to be presented by local professional beekeepers Ken and Dan Basterfield, both highly-regarded members of the British Beekeepers Association.

Course Content

  • History of the honeybee, beekeeping and interaction with the environment
  • Pollination, honey wax and propolis, topical problems
  • Components of the hive, equipment, clothing
  • Caring for honeybees: beekeepers year, swarming, harvesting, health
  • Plants and produce: sites, plants, honey, beeswax

Entry requirements - enthusiastic interest

Venue - Bicton College

Date - 11th September, 09:30 - 16:30

Price - includes lunch and sufficient protective equipment for the duration of the course
